Hello Flower Mound Area Democrats!
Check out our calendar of events & activities for August! We may be set to broil in this Texas heat, but we’ve got cool things you can do to help us flip Texas blue. We’ve got our monthly First Fridays Happy Hour, Breakfast Club, Game Night, & Book Club on offer and they are great places to plug in and get to know your fellow Dems better. We have postcard writing parties every Sunday to help get our very own Denise Wooten elected to represent us in the Texas State Legislature for HD63. We’ve got a Precinct Chair/Volunteer Informational Meeting for those who are interested in helping get out the Dem vote, and a Precinct Chair/Volunteer Training for those who decide to take the plunge and help us create that Blue Wave we want and need in the upcoming midterm election this November. We have the LBJ/Obama fundraising dinner. And we have the opportunity to apply for one of Flower Mound’s many Boards & Commissions. Our monthly club meeting is, like always, the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Creekwood Christian Church, and we’re excited to have special guests from North Texas Organizers for Texans for Housing coming to present “Beyond Left vs. Right. What can Texas do to make homeownership and renting affordable again?” We will also be collecting donations of cases of water for the Denton Water Project to help out the homeless like we do every summer. Flower Mound Boards & Commissions: Application Period Opens
When: August 1st – August 30th

What: You don’t have a voice at the table unless you have a seat at the table. And, as we discussed at our June FMAD Club meeting, Boards & Commissions is the best way to get involved in your local town government. Why get involved locally? Because it affects you right where you live. And if you don’t get involved, someone else will, and you really might not like like their values, their voice, their policies, their politics. Serving on one of the town’s boards & commissions is a great way to serve your town. If you are interested in applying, let us know. We can help you prepare for the application & interview process. Postcard Parties for Denise Wooten for HD63
When: Sundays at 1pm August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th.

What: Come write postcards with friends in support of Denise Wooten for HD63. This House District is flippable! Help us reach voters! You can also take a list and do the postcard writing from home. Stamps are provided but donations for stamps are also welcome!
FMAD Precinct Chair Training
When: Tuesday, August 11th, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

What: This is an important training session for those who attend our PrecinctChairInformationalMeeting earlier in the month and have decided to either join our local cluster as a Democratic PrecinctChair or a Captain/Helper/Volunteer. We will train you on how to work your precinct effectively to turn out the Dem vote every election every time. Not only is working your precinct fun, but it is the single most effective way to get out the Democratic vote in our precincts, our neighborhoods. This is how we do it. This is how we win. LBJ/Obama Dinner

What: Don’t miss the Denton County Democratic Party’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Every year this fundraising dinner features an exciting lineup of speakers. Past speakers include Wendy Davis, Jasmine Crockett, and James Talarico. Individual seats or tables can be purchased through the DCDP website & ActBlue. You can also buy ads in the program. FMAD August Club Meeting

What: Join us for our monthly club meeting. At this month’s meeting we have several special guests! Thanks to Detrick DeBurr for HD65,Housing we have Alexis Kosliski and Jenny Singh of North Texas Organizers for Texans for Housing coming to present “Beyond Left vs. Right. What can Texas do to make homeownership and renting affordable again?” Join us for a community conversation about one of North Texas’ biggest challenges: Housing Affordability. We’ll explore why housing costs continue to rise, the barriers facing first-time homebuyers and renters, and how growth, zoning, infrastructure, and state and local policies shape our communities. Together, we’ll discuss practical, bipartisan solutions that support homeownership, expand housing options, strengthen neighborhoods, and ensure that teachers, first responders, young families, seniors, and working Texans can afford to live in the communities they serve. This town hall is about moving beyond politics to find common-sense solutions that work for everyone. The first half hour (6:30-7pm) is for socializing. The presentation will start promptly at 7pm.
