Hello Flower Mound Area Democrats Members!
The chill in our November air means that Fall has finally fallen for us here in Texas, making wonderful weather for soups, volunteering, voting, and for all our club has to offer this month. If you have not voted yet, we have a special election happening right now for the 17 proposed changes to the Texas Constitution and for LISD School Board. Early Voting started on October 20th and will continue through the 31st (Halloween). The best time to vote is to vote early, so don’t miss your last chance to early vote. Election Day is Nov. 4th. More details below, including links to research those propositions, info about the candidates, & DCDP recommendations. Join us this month for our First Fridays Happy Hour, November Club Meeting, Breakfast Club, & Adopt-a-Spot Clean up. All the details are included below. And enjoy this month’s calendar (attached).
As one of the longest serving Democratic clubs in the county, we pride ourselves on offering a variety of events & activities, consistently, each and every month. We support incumbent Michelle Alkhatib for LISD Board of Trustees. Here is Michelle Alkhatib’s website: www.michelle4lisd.com ***THIS IS A NON-PARTISAN RACE.*** We all helped Michelle Alkhatib get elected 2 years ago and she has been brilliant on School Board, appreciated and respected by her peers on the board, educators, PTA, parents, & students. She is a true supporter of our public schools against a state legislature that is not. A far-right group recruited her opponent to run against her simply because of her (Michelle’s) last name. Don’t let this kind of hate win here. Vote for Michelle Alkhatib. Vote for advocacy. Vote for experience.

Your vote counts, and that is especially true in low-voter-turn-out elections like these. This is where you live, and it matters who you pick to lead locally because it will absolutely affect you where you live.
Election Day Voting for Special Election:
When: Tues, November 4th, 7am-7pm.
Where: In Denton County, you can ONLY vote in your precinct’s specific voting location. You can look that up here: www.votedenton.gov Do a Voter Lookup, enter your name & birthdate, and it will tell you your precinct number, where your precinct can vote on election day, and your sample ballot.
In any election here in Denton County, if you show up at the wrong location on Election Day, you will be turned away. Election workers will try to help you find the correct location per your precinct. If you insist on voting at the wrong location, the election workers may give you a provisional ballot. However, your vote on that provisional ballot will not count. So on election day, be sure to vote in your precinct’s specific polling location.
Go to www.votedenton.gov to check your registration status, see your sample ballot, and confirm your polling locations and hours.

Learn what Christian Nationalism is, why it is fundamentally un-American, and how extremist groups like the Wilks brothers, Dunn, and the True Texas Project are targeting local elections & positions to implement their theocratic agenda. Josh brings an insider’s perspective on recognizing and countering this movement’s threat at local, state, & federal levels. Q&A to follow. Additionally, with SNAP benefits expiring for thousands in this government shutdown, it’s up to us as a community to help. Please bring non-perishable items, pop-top canned goods, and/or clean/new blankets. Beth Porter Varma with Denton Basic Services will be joining us to let us know how best we can help the most vulnerable in our communities and to collect our donations.
