August Events

Hello Flower Mound Area Democrats!

It’s hot. Dang hot. So hot that all that comes to mind right now are Robin Williams movie quotes from “Good Morning, Vietnam” that we will not share here. (You either remember them or you can Google them.) But, yes, it is that hot. Still work to be done though, places to be, people to meet. We are a growing community of bright blue dots, after all, who require as much care & watering as our currently languishing lawns. So, mark your calendars and make your plans to gather with your fellow Dems and attend this month’s events. And be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for the “Look Ahead,” because we have some exciting new monthly events planned for September and onward.

Local Elections

If you did not vote during early voting, your final chance to vote in local elections is May 6, 7 am to 7 pm.  Local elections are non-partisan and the most important elections in which you can vote.  The winners of these election control how our schools are run, our property values, and our local taxes, and influence decisions regarding local ordinances.  They also become a stepping stone to higher office.

As voter turnout is usually low, they are also the elections in which your vote truly matters. For instance, school board races in LISD are determined by a simple majority.   It’s your chance to influence your community, so please vote and take a family member or friend.  Not sure who to vote for?  We recommend these candidates:

LISD Place 6:  Michelle Akhitab

LISD Place 7: Dr. Staci Barker

Flower Mound Town Council Place 2:  Chris Drew

In Denton county, on election day you must vote at the location specified for your precinct. This site will tell you what your precinct is
